Queer vizualita – challenges and problems
Lecture by Hynek Látal
From Western Europe and America come many art-history publications building the continuous history of queer visualisations. The basis of such constructions is a conviction that even in older periods of art there are unambiguously homoerotic motives. Naturally, the question is whether it is possible to project such explicitly formulated conclusions onto older art and whether such revelations contribute to learning more of the culture of our predecessors. The lecturer thus asks the question whether it is possible to find a clearly definable queer visualisation even in contemporary art.
