Queer for fear
Presented by Harry M. Benshoff, film theorist and jury member
Harry M. Benshoff’s talk will focus on the relationship between the film horror and queer sexuality. Mainstream horror film in most cases represents the hero as a white straight male. Film monsters, representing the opposite, tend not to be male, or straight or white. On the elementary level, the horror genre can be understood as a narration of penetrating queer sexuality into heteronormative environment.
Lecture in English.
